HIT THE FLOOR

Updated: Jun 6, 2023

In response to all the time most of us have spent indoors during the pandemic, the post-COVID shows a fundamental change in various aspects of our life. So much uncertainty in the past has led us to appreciate having more stability around us, enjoying the most simple things, and becoming more conscious and thoughtful. No exception is made in Home Design, where well-being and nature are predominant in our interiors. Careless and long-lasting organic materials are the new trends in renovating our home.

From flooring to materials and colors, check out our top selection!

Eco-friendly

Flooring represents one of the most extensive surfaces of our interiors, and as for the walls, it plays its part in the success of decorating your home!

The Parquet remains one of the most popular types of flooring as it brings a unique atmosphere to the room with its softness and simplicity.

Actively participating in local economic development by selecting local wood species and reducing your eco-footprint are among good reasons to pick hard wooden flooring for your home.

Now for the one who finds the parquet a tiny bit too classic and would rather have a more graphic look to your floors, we recommend the Herringbone pattern for its timeless appeal or Chevron for a dynamic and contemporary design.

Herringbone pattern

I also recommend choosing wider wood boards or an oversized Herringbone pattern for open spaces.

When deciding on a laying direction for the parquet, we usually lay the planks in the direction of the incoming light. But not always, as it all depends on the room's shape.

To visually enlarge a small office, we like to place the planks in the direction of the shortest wall. Although the installation might take longer time, the result will live up to the expectations. Also, choosing light-toned wood such as oak or beech with small-width boards creates more space.

On the opposite side, laying the wooden boards parallel to the largest side of the room lengthens the space, but remember that it tends to shrink the room!

Mix & match in style

The mix and match is an excellent option to break with the monotony of your parquet.

You can mix all types of natural stone or ceramic tiles with your parquet to create your own design. Place the tiles as you wish to zone an open-plan room, clearly demarcating a dining space, a kitchen island cabinet, or even to bring a point of interest in a small bathroom.

You can use your creativity there! The tiles can even be placed along the kitchen cabinets to protect the floor from falling objects and splashing food. Apart from its high aesthetics, the tiles are also easy to keep clean!

Choosing a natural stone for your floor is a noble and authentic product. A good pick as the stone conducts heat ideally and is never cold under your feet, a plus, unlike how a classic tile would be!

Distinctive marble

Go ahead with the marble look by choosing large veins with a solid aesthetic impact....and in maxi format! Use it to cover the floor and walls to enlarge the visual space. Also, choose the joint's color in the same shade as the tile as they appear less visible and for the surface to look less crowded. You then obtain continuity on the tiles.

Our all-time favorite _ A Pink or green marble to sublimate your bathroom!

For the best visual effect, use an XXL rock as a wall panel, with the same pattern and color as the floor. The veined marble secures a chic and contemporary atmosphere to your home.

The Marble for a minimalistic Design

XXL tiles in every room

Urban look for this bathroom focusing on a large-format concrete-inspired tile. It can be placed evenly on the floors and walls! Adding on some Green plants - Aloe Vera or Sansevieria, known as Mother-In-Law's Tongue- will help you relax and feel refreshed!

The maxi concrete tile can also be placed on gravel in a patio for a clean and minimalistic design. Its raw appearance fits perfectly with the natural surroundings.

The Tomettes tiles are back

These smooth terracotta tiles remind us of the charm of old houses in Provence.

But forget now the total look of the tile...Revisited, they keep their hexagonal shape but come in different colors, surfing between vintage and design.

The tomette tile perfectly breaks the codes and matches any contemporary interior.

Patterned multi-colored tiles bring contrast to simple lines of furniture with neutral tones. Let the charm of the tomette brings its little effect to your bathroom in perfect contrast with the white bathroom fixtures.

You can enlarge the space by juxtaposing 3 or 4 colored tiles to create unique floorings and enhance your interiors.

Different patterns... and colors

Muted color Palettes with gentle hues are a good choice for a sophisticated yet calm atmosphere. For example, we like to mix Powder pink with Mossy green,

and Burnt orange with Teal blue.

These color combinations work well in the kitchen as they enhance all the vivid colors standing next to it and make your dark worktop stand out.

Vintage flower power

Floral hues patterns in toned down that feel earthy and emotionally relaxing!

So fresh – these geometric decorations invite you to travel to sunny destinations! They can be placed everywhere, in the kitchen, bathroom, and even on a staircase for a retro vibe.

Let’s play with shapes…

Fish scales have become very trendy in our interiors. We can use them in the bathroom or the kitchen floor to give some structure and originality to the room.

We have selected here a camaieu of blue and white fish scales tiles.

You can wake up your interior with a patchwork of tiles. Then, to create harmony and balance, mix colors using the 60/30/10 Rule – 60 % of the primary color, 30% of the secondary color or neutral, and 10 % of the accent color. When deciding on the accent color, we like to select a color already present in the room; it can be the color of a piece of furniture or even a bright color from a wall!

Retro classic pattern

If your entrance lacks character, graphic tiles could be an excellent option to give peps to your decoration. With the checkerboard floor, we add patterns and color to the most traditional entrance. We like the charm of yesterday for a parenthesis of nostalgia that makes us feel good!

White octagonal tiles with black cabochon

Flooring has a significant impact on the appearance and feeling of a room.

We notice a real interest in sustainable and environmentally friendly products, being more conscious in selecting raw and natural materials. A tendency to choose gentle, muted tones, comforting hues, or simplistic color palettes for a feel-good home.
